Property Miles collects and processes the following location information to provide automatic mileage tracking:

• GPS Coordinates: Latitude and longitude to track your driving routes
• Timestamps: Date and time of location updates
• Speed: Used to detect when you're driving (threshold: 10 mph)
• Addresses: Reverse-geocoded from coordinates using Apple Maps services

Trip Data

The app stores information about your trips, including:

• Start and end locations
• Trip distance and duration
• Trip purpose (e.g., showing, open house, inspection)
• Associated property information
• Notes you add to trips

User-Entered Data

You may optionally provide:

• Property addresses and nicknames
• Location nicknames (e.g., "Office", "Home")
• Vehicle information (make, model, year, VIN)
• Custom trip purposes
• Trip notes

2. How We Use Your Information

All data processing happens locally on your device. We use your information to:

• Automatically detect when you start and stop driving
• Calculate trip distances and durations
• Generate mileage reports for tax purposes
• Display trip history and statistics
• Enable CSV export of your mileage logs
• Auto-assign trips to saved locations

3. Data Storage

All your data is stored locally on your iOS device using Apple's secure storage mechanisms:

• Storage Method: iOS UserDefaults (encrypted at rest by iOS)
• Location: Your device only - no cloud storage
• Backup: Included in iCloud/iTunes backups if enabled by you
• Retention: Data persists until you delete the app or clear data

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We Do NOT Share Your Data

Property Miles does not share, sell, rent, or transmit your personal data to any third parties. Your information stays on your device.

Third-Party Services We Use

Apple Maps: We use Apple's reverse geocoding service to convert GPS coordinates into readable addresses. This is processed by Apple according to their privacy policy. Apple does not receive identifying information about you from our app.

No Analytics or Tracking

Property Miles does not use:

• Analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.)
• Advertising networks
• Crash reporting services that send data externally
• Social media SDKs

5. Your Data Export

You have complete control over your data:

• Export: Generate CSV files of your trips anytime via the Reports tab
• Share: Export data via iOS share sheet (AirDrop, email, Files app)
• Delete: Delete individual trips or clear all data in Settings
• Control: All data operations are user-initiated

6. Background Location Usage

Property Miles requests "Always Allow" location permission to provide automatic trip tracking. Here's why:

• Automatically detect when you start driving without opening the app
• Continue tracking trips even when your phone is locked
• Work seamlessly in the background so you never miss a trip

Battery Optimization

We use Apple's automotive navigation mode and significant location change monitoring to minimize battery impact. Location updates only occur when movement is detected.

You're in Control

• Toggle automatic tracking on/off anytime in Settings
• Revoke location permission via iOS Settings → Privacy → Location Services
• The app respects iOS system-level location controls

7. Data Security

We take security seriously:

• Local Storage: All data encrypted at rest by iOS
• No Network Transmission: Data never leaves your device
• No Account Required: No passwords or credentials to compromise
• Device Security: Protected by your device passcode/Face ID/Touch ID

8. Children's Privacy

Property Miles is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information to the app, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated via:
