What is ShowUpBooster?
ShowUpBooster is an instant event confirmation app that uses Apple's App Clips technology. You can confirm attendance at events without downloading a full app, receiving smart reminders so you never miss important moments.
How to Use ShowUpBooster
- Receive Event Link: Get an event invitation link via Messages, Email, or any app
- Tap the Link: An App Clip card appears instantly at the top of your screen
- View Event Details: See the event title, address, date/time, and location on a map
- Confirm Attendance: Tap "Confirm Attendance" button
- Get Reminders: Receive automatic notifications 24h, 2h, and 30min before the event
- Show Up: Never miss the event!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to download the full app?
No! ShowUpBooster works as an App Clip, which means you can use it instantly without downloading the full app. If you want access to additional features in the future (like hosting events), you can optionally download the full app later.
How do reminders work?
When you confirm attendance, the app requests permission to send notifications. If you grant permission, you'll receive three reminders:
- 24 hours before: Plan ahead reminder
- 2 hours before: Prepare to leave reminder
- 30 minutes before: Time to go reminder
These notifications work even after you close the app!
What if I'm running late or can't make it?
After confirming, you'll see two buttons:
- Running Late: Marks your status as late (local to your device)
- Can't Make It: Cancels your attendance and removes all scheduled notifications
Note: Currently these updates are stored locally. Future versions may notify the event host.
Is my data private?
Absolutely! ShowUpBooster is designed with privacy first:
- No data is collected or stored on our servers
- All event information stays on your device
- No tracking, analytics, or advertising
- No account required

How do I manage notifications?
You can control notifications in iOS Settings:
- Open Settings app
- Scroll to Notifications
- Find ShowUpBooster
- Toggle notifications on/off or customize settings
Does ShowUpBooster work offline?
Partially. Once you've confirmed attendance:
- ✅ Yes: Notifications will still work
- ✅ Yes: Event details remain accessible
- ❌ No: Map tiles require internet connection to load
What iOS version is required?
ShowUpBooster requires iOS 16.0 or later. App Clips are available on iPhone and iPad running iOS 14+ for basic functionality, but our app specifically requires iOS 16+ for all features.
Can I use this for recurring events?
Currently, ShowUpBooster is designed for single events. Each event requires a separate confirmation. Recurring events would need individual links for each occurrence.
Troubleshooting
App Clip doesn't appear when I tap the link
Possible causes and solutions:

iOS version too old: Update to iOS 14 or later (iOS 16+ recommended)

App Clips disabled: Go to Settings → App Clips → ensure App Clips are enabled

Link format incorrect: Ensure the URL starts with https://imentos.github.io/ShowUpBooster/

Internet required: App Clips require internet connection for first launch

Try in Safari: Open the link in Safari if it doesn't work in other apps
Notifications not working
Check these settings:
- Verify you granted notification permission when the app asked
- Check Settings → Notifications → ShowUpBooster → Allow Notifications is ON
- Check Settings → Focus modes aren't blocking app notifications
- Verify event date/time is in the future
- Re-confirm attendance to reschedule notifications
Important: If you cancel attendance, all notifications are automatically removed. You'll need to confirm again to receive new reminders.
Map not showing location
Possible issues:

No coordinates provided: The event link must include latitude and longitude parameters

Internet connection: Map tiles require internet to load (Apple Maps)

Invalid coordinates: Coordinates must be valid (latitude: -90 to 90, longitude: -180 to 180)
Debug Mode for Testing
ShowUpBooster includes a hidden debug mode for testing notifications:
- Open an event in the app
- Tap the ShowUpBooster icon 5 times quickly
- Debug mode activates (green button appears)
- Tap "Test Notification (10s)" to receive a test notification in 10 seconds
- Use this to verify notifications are working
App Clip expired or removed
App Clips are automatically managed by iOS and may be removed to save space. This is normal behavior:
- Simply tap the event link again to reload the App Clip
- Your scheduled notifications persist even if the App Clip is removed
- To keep the app permanently, download the full app from the App Store
Event details look wrong
Event information comes from the URL. If details are incorrect:
- Contact the person who sent you the link
- They may need to generate a new event link with correct information
- ShowUpBooster displays information exactly as provided in the URL
